of the Glasgow school of the late 19th century. The extremely flat arching combined with relatively strong top and back thicknesses produce a powerful yet dark tone, a combination that many cellists seek. An instrument with a high recognition value thanks to its personal touch and probably one of the last signs of life of George Duncan, whose traces are lost after his emigration to Canada in the year 1890.

the luthier Antonio Indri, who was active in Venice at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. Works by this master are very rare, and so this example provides a rare opportunity to study the influences of early 18th century classical Venetian violin making, for example in the choice of model and varnish. This instrument is in excellent condition for its age.

was made by Nicolas Couturieux in Lyon around 1830-1840, less than a hundred years after the original was made. It is interesting to note how clearly the original had shown signs of wear after less than a hundred years of use, which have been convincingly imitated here. The sound of this violin is also inspired by the tonal ideal of Guarneri del Gesù, a dark timbre with enormous power and projection at the same time. The special feature of this instrument is that it still has its original neck.
